Asking your Photographer for Ideas

When in Doubt Ask Your Photographer

I commonly see people looking for ideas for engagement and other types of photo sessions. Places like Facebook groups and Pinterest are full of folks willing to give ideas to people they don’t know, but there are dangers to this approach.  Are you going to be happy with your photos? Will they be personal? Are YOU going to love someone else ideas? And maybe most importantly is it something your photographer can capture.   Maybe but then again, maybe not?

As a professional photographer this concerns me because it can definitely lead to photos that don’t fit my clients personality.   My goal with every session is to tell YOUR story. In order to tell that story, I HAVE to get to know my clients. What makes you and your Fiancé unique? A love of a sport, a certain location where you met, a shared passion? By asking these simple questions to a couple I can begin to prepare a truly custom session.  I have found that these types of sessions are more personal and lead to much better photos, happier clients and the creation of true artwork.

Most professional photographers also are great at helping suggest locations, ideas and clothing ideas.   I personally have a notebook full of locations. From romantic parks to edgy urban scenes, I know places all over town that are not only great locations but are photo shoots friendly.

When IN doubt ask your photographer for help and see what input they have.  YOU might be suprised!  #CaptureHistory
